ORiEnTspiration Types Of Tea

Types of Teas

All tea is produced from a plant called Camellia sinensis. The thousands of different varieties of teas available in the world only vary on the region it was grown, the time of year picked, and the processing method.

The main categories of tea are White, Green, Oolong, and Black. We also sell Fruit teas, Flower Teas, Blossom Teas, and Herbal Tisanes, otherwise known as herbal tea, which do not actually contain the Camellia sinensis tea plant.

Green teas
have only 5-10% the caffeine in coffee. Green tea is also high in antioxidants, which flush the toxins, boost the immune system, and help to prevent cancer. They also lower blood pressure, fight gingivitis and cavities, and help regulate blood sugar levels. Green teas should be steeped at a much lower temperature than boiling.

Oolong teas are a member of the green tea family, and are semi-fermented teas, more than green, but less than black tea. They have 15% the caffeine in coffee. Most people commonly recognize Oolong tea as the tea served in Chinese restaurants. Oolong tea promotes weight loss by boost metabolism rate, and increasing digestion.

Black teas are the tea most people are familiar with as it is the one you have grown up drinking by dunking little paper teabags in your cup. Black tea is fully fermented. Black tea helps your body prevent the absorption of cholesterol into the blood stream thus it helps to prevent heart disease. Black tea contains 20 % the caffeine of coffee.

White teas have very little caffeine, and brew a light color and flavor. White teas are the least processed of all teas; they contain the highest antioxidant properties, and are very low in tannins.

Herbal teas do not contain any leaves from the Camellia family. They are called teas because of the infusion process, sometimes they are called tisanes. Herbal tea is just pure herbs, flowers, and fruits. The health benefits of herbal tea vary from tea to tea.

Flower teas are a unique class of Chinese tea. It subdivides into Flower Tea and Scented Tea.  Flower Tea is a simple concept that dried flowers are used, without much processing, to make tea. Scented Tea uses green tea or red/black tea as a base and mixes with scent of flowers. Chinese Flower Tea typically has light to medium flavor and medium to strong aroma.

Fruit teas are made only from fruits of the highest quality and immediately packed airtight to preserve their aroma and freshness. A treat for the eyes, nose and palate, these blends are rich in Vitamin C and delicious - hot or iced.

Flowering Bulb teas and their flowers possess many unique attributes to enhance the immune system, protect the liver, deterring aging and beautifying skin. This product contains all-natural ingredients and flavors, and no artificial colors or preservatives.
